Emergency Guide

What to Do in Case of an Emergency While Operating a Golf Cart

Emergencies can happen unexpectedly. If you experience one while driving a golf cart, follow these steps to protect yourself and others:

1. Bring the Cart to a Safe Stop

Remain calm. Gently release the accelerator and apply the brakes to bring the cart to a complete stop. If possible, pull over to the side of the road or move to a safe area away from traffic or potential hazards.

2. Turn Off the Engine

Once stopped, switch off the engine by turning the key to the “OFF” position. Remove the key to prevent accidental restarts.

3. Assess the Situation

Quickly evaluate the scene. Is there a fire, smoke, or another immediate danger? Are you or any passengers injured? If anyone is hurt, seek medical assistance right away.

4. Call for Help

If needed, contact emergency services immediately. If the situation allows, you can also call a nearby friend, colleague, or family member for assistance.

5. Use Safety Equipment

If available, use any emergency supplies such as:

  • A fire extinguisher (for small fires)
  • A first aid kit (for minor injuries)
  • Warning triangles or reflective markers (to alert others to your position)

6. Stay at the Scene

Unless remaining at the location poses a serious danger, do not leave the scene. Wait for help to arrive or until it is safe to move.

7. Report the Incident

If the emergency involves a collision, injury, or property damage, notify the appropriate authorities as soon as possible.

Be Prepared Before You Drive

  • Always carry a fully charged mobile phone.
  • Keep a first aid kit and fire extinguisher in your cart.
  • Make sure your golf cart is properly maintained and inspected regularly.

Taking these steps can help you respond effectively in an emergency and may prevent further harm or damage.
